Northenden Golf Club are members of the Mersey League, which includes Didsbury, Withington, Sale and Chorlton. Each club has a 1st and 2nd team consisting of 12 players. The Captain and Professional play in the 1st team whilst the Vice-Captain plays for the 2nd team. 1st team matches are played in a scratch format whilst the 2nd team use handicaps. Matches are played on a Wednesday evening at around 5pm. There are a total of 16 fixtures (8 for the 1st team and 8 for the 2nd team) and the club with the most points at the end of the season, win the league. The results of both the 1st and 2nd teams are combined so should one team lose, the other team can win their match and earn the club some league points.
