Dunham Trophy Result - Added 27th April 2008 Northenden secured a comfortable 6 1/2 - 1/2 win over Cheadle in the Preliminary Round of the Dunham Forest Trophy knockout. With the new EGU regulations specifying that full shot difference must be given in singles matchplay, the team performed extremely well, as every player had to give away shots. The winning team was made up of James Curtis, Gary Mitchell, Tim Christie, Lee Roy Turner, Alex Mattison, Ian Brougham and Carl Harrison. End of Winter Rules - Added 17th April 2008 Winter Rules cease from the end of play on Friday, 18th April 2008. The Lombard Qualifier on Saturday, 19th April 2008 will be the first competition of the season without lifting, cleaning and placing. The course has dried out well this week and the recent breezy weather is helping to dry it out even further. Inevitably there are still some soggy areas, but hopefully they won't interfere with play too much. Winter Foursomes Extension - Added 19th January 2008 Due to the relentless heavy rain the course has been closed for the past few days. As a result, the deadline for the winter foursomes knockout has been extended from 20th January 2008 to a later date. It is unclear when the course will be re-opened and so a firm date will not be set until that time, however, the extension will be at least one week. Please check the noticeboard or the website during the week for updates. Open for Play!! - Added 9th December 2007 The excellent drainage ability of our USGA greens complimented by the hard work of the greens staff has ensured that the course has remained open even during the heavy rainfall of the past week. Many courses in the area have had no choice but to close. New Trolley System - Added 9th December 2007 A new trolley system has been installed outside the Pro Shop. Captain's Drive-In - Added 10th November 2007 It was a breezy, chilly morning, a crowd of people gathered around the 10th tee to watch the new Captain (Dave Ashbrook) tee off. They watched with anticipation as he swung the club back and through the ball. There was a huge jeer as the ball scuttled along the ground barely reaching the end of the ladies tee. Well...that's what they were all hoping would happen. Sadly, in reality, the new Captain somehow managed to flush his tee shot a mind-blowing 180 yards. Our intrepid cameraman Anthony Milner, equipped with his brand new DSLR camera managed to capture the moment in all its glory. We ask you to pay particular attention to the Captain's technique and agility, qualities which lesser golfers would do well to study. You may click each image to view a larger version.
