Most of you are probably aware that this year’s Captains charities are Alzheimer’s Research and Stroke UK. In order to raise money for these worthwhile charities we organised a 90 hole challenge and four of our members kindly (and bravely) agreed to attempt the challenge - Alexi Hughes, Peter Baker, George Crawshaw and James Branton teed-off at 5am on Monday 5th July.
Additionally, we organised a sweep stake to raise funds by guessing the nearest time taken for 72 holes. The earliest guess for 72 holes started at 10hrs. How wrong could we be??? They finished 3 complete rounds in 5hrs 50mins. The total time for 72 holes was 8hrs 48mins and 56 secs and this included 48mins for a change of clothing and a lunch break!!!! (The £100 prize goes to Brendan Scott as he selected the 10hrs slot).
Following a further drinks break, the fab-four continued and completed 100 holes, taking 14hrs in total!!!!! They all averaged 53,000 steps and completed 40 kilometres.
Congratulations and a massive thank you to all four of you on completing such a difficult challenge.
As a result of this monumental effort the current total is over £4,500, which is superb! However, if you do wish to donate you can do so via the JustGiving link below, or as a cash donation via the office.
